Description

Evergreen shrub, to 2.5 m. Flowers fragrant, greenish white, 4-6 mm. Mar-May. Fruits fleshy blue/black, 6-8 mm.

Geography

Mediterranean basin, W and E. to Albania, Canaries.

Habitat

Garrigue, Maquis, Forests. Prefers lime soils.

Leaf decoction : diuretic. Febrifuge in intermittent fever. Emmenagogue. Gargles.
